“Why do I compete: I could say I compete because some motivational quote you’ve no doubt seen 10 times, but I’m going to be real. 4 years ago my father was diagnosed with a rare terminal brain disease called MSA (multiple system atrophy.). I wrestled up to college and my freshman year. My dad took so much pride in watching me compete. Crossfit has filled the void of competitive spots in my life and has given my dad something else to take pride in. Through he can’t watch me, he gets videos and pictures about all of my competitive updates. Competing for me is a release. It helps me cope and it helps me process. I compete for someone who can’t. I compete for him. I compete for my dad.”
