  1. Tell us about yourself.

I am a Nutrition Coach, Entrepreneur and in the final stages of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I was born and raised in Austin, TX. I spent nearly 8 years living in New York – I got my MA in Classical Studies from Columbia University (I was a Roman archaeologist in a former life) and I did my nutrition education at NYU. I have lived in Dallas with my husband and our crazy animals for the last two years, though I was back and forth between Austin and Dallas for most of the last year while I was finishing up my dietetic internship.

  1. What’s a typical day look like?

I don’t really have one. I’m working on building a more routine daily schedule, but right now things are a bit crazy. Since my business (Paleo University) is so new, my days are split between working on the business (creating processes and systems), working in the business (creating content) and putting out any fires that need immediate attention. I do CrossFit 4 days a week and Ido Portal style body weight movement 3 days a week. I often hit up different coffee shops depending on what I need to do that day. I also try to carve out some time to study for my RDN exam.

  1. What’s one goal you’ve set to achieve by 12/31/17?

One of my three motivators for the year is “go big,” so it’s a big goal - I’d like to have 3,000 active members on Paleo University.

  1. What’s one life goal (non-fitness) you’re currently pursuing?

Taking (and passing) the registration exam this summer to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; and making Paleo University successful.

  1. What does it mean to you to Compete Every Day?

It means striving to do the best I can on that day, every day. It’s waking up and realizing that this is my life. It’s not tomorrow. It’s not in some future time when I “have more time” or “have more money.” My life is today and that means working to make each day the best it can be.

  1. What’s one obstacle you’re proud to have overcome in life?

I have chronic PTSD as a result of some things that happened when I was a kid. There were times when I was younger when I wasn’t entirely sure I would make it this far in life. It’s slow healing and definitely requires competing for your life every day, but I am proud of where I am now – when I look back on where I was ten years ago or twenty, I can hardly believe that I’m the same person.

  1. What/who do you Compete for?

My past self, my present self and my future self. My past self because every day I make forward progress I can heal the wounds of self doubt that plagued my younger self. My present self because every day is an opportunity to get a little better and be a little happier. My future self because what I do today sets the foundation for what I will do tomorrow, and I know my future self has big plans!
